June 22 - Vice Update


Hello everyone!

Here is the long awaited vice update. Thank you to all of my testers for their dedication and assistance!

New game is required!

CHANGES:

  • Vices: Pick and choose system with new vices added.
    • During high stress scenes — vices are randomized if more than one is present.
    • During calmer moments — you have the option to choose the vice you wish to indulge in (except a certain moment in Chapter 3).
  • Dynamic Fidgets: Fidgets are now randomized.
  • Reworked Explicit Scenes: 
    • Chapter 1 & 2 explicit scenes have been revised. Chapter 3's original scenes seem okay — at least, I wasn't cringing super hard while reading them — some changes were made, but not extensively.
    • New scenes for virgins have been added.
      • Ly's scene presented a character-development moment much earlier, I hope this scene is showcases their history a little bit more. However, this scene can be missed.
  • Extensive Coding Improvements (for my own sake):
    • I streamlined and organized so many variables.
    • I streamlined the execution of the gender-selectable character variables.
    • Changed how relationships are tracked.
    • Redid the Relationships page:
      • After some feedback, the drop-downs (shown in an earlier example) made it a bit tedious, so I made them as before but with dividers.
  • Revamped Relationship Dynamics:
    • Moods & Thoughts: Transitioned from a traditional friendship bar to a more (hopefully) nuanced system that reacts to your choices, showing more direct effects of your interactions.
      • The thoughts aren't direct thoughts from ROs heads, I tried to keep it feeling immersive, revealing more but not too much.
    • Since posting on Tumblr and itch.io, I've added an option to enable friendship bars if desired. 
      • I plan to implement a 3rd option that changes in increments, but will likely be in the next update.
  • Bug Fixes and Random Revisions:
    • There are revisions throughout: I've expanded some sections, reworded a few things, etc. I'm by no means finished with making these sorts of edits, but there are so many that I'm not going to stress about what's complete or not — I'll get there eventually

I changed the style of the choices for the upcoming update. However, I did not intend to do this yet, so it was not included in the test. Long story short, I wasn’t paying attention to what I was editing and decided to just get it over with since I'll be doing it anyway. There should not be any broken links, but if you come across any weird styling, please submit a bug report.

Finally, the moods and thoughts feature is not fully implemented in Chapter 3. This is because I'll be reworking parts of it, especially the poly routes. I apologize for the incompleteness, but since things are going to change, I don’t see the point in adding elements that will be erased or redone anyway.
